DRUG SMUGGLER GETS LIFE SENTENCE, AFTER SMUGGLING COCAINE.

A court in Cambodia has sentenced a Belgian man, David Carry, 34, to life imprisonment for smuggling a kilogram of cocaine into the Kingdom, a court official announced.

    David Catry was arrested at Phnom Penh's airport with the drug in his suitcase, which he had brought all the way from Brazil.

   He was also fined the sum of $20,000, Catry lawyer could not be reached for further comment regarding his client situation.


  Cambodian media said the Belgian had revealed to the court that he was promised $30,000 if he was able to smuggle the contraband into Cambodia by a mysterious man in Brazil.

  Cambodia has become a popular smuggling route for hard drugs like heroin, narcotics, cocaine etc, since neighboring Thailand toughened its stance on illegal drugs in the early 2000s.

  Cambodia has intensified it's battle to control illegal drugs smuggling in recent years, And they have made hundreds of successful arrests, Including that of top officials and foreigners.
