TWO BUSINESSMEN REMANDED IN PRISON OVER EXTORTION.
A chief magistrate court has remanded two businessmen, Hassan Abubaka and Samalia Malami for extorting money from one Abubakar Mikailu.
The defendants are facing a two count charge of criminal conspiracy and extortion.Earlier, The prosecutor, Abubakar Tambuwal, told the count that the complainant (Abubakar Mikailu) reported the case to the Nigeria and civil defence corps (NSCDC).
Tambuwal said the accused and one other person, Criminally conspired and attacked Mikailu with cutlasses with the intention of extorting N85,000 from him.
He said when they were arrested the weapons (cutlasses) were found in their possession.
The duo however pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
The chief Magistrate, Abubakar Adamu, Ordered the defendants to be remanded in prison and adjourned the case until June24 for further hearing.
