Lagos police commissioner denies ordering closure of churches

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu has denied ordering closure of churches in the state.    Though a statement was released earlier in which the police chief instructed policemen in the command to enforce all protocols by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 including the restriction of movement between 12am and 4am, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi released another statement in which he made a clarification.    Odumosu stated that he didn’t order the closure of churches but nightclubs, bars, lounges, and event centres.   The statement read;    “The command’s statement was explicit on the enforcement of COVID-19 protocols as clearly stated by the Presidential Taskforce and the Lagos State Government respectively. “For clarification, the preventive COVID-19 protocols include the use of face mask at public places, maintaining social distancing, closure of night clubs, bars, lounges, event centres; no social party, street carnivals and due en

hose extorting NIN applicants risk 7-year jail term - NIMC

  The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has warned that those extorting National Identification Number (NIN) applicants risk a 7-year jail term.    Citing Sections 14, 20 and 21 of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) Act and Sections 10 and 12 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, the NIMC which stated that the offence is punishable in accordance with the laws also affirmed that the ongoing enrollment for the National Identification Number (NIN) is free across the country.   Nigerians have been asked to report such cases of extortion for diligent prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others.   The tweet read;    “The punishment for extortion if convicted is seven years of imprisonment as stipulated in Sections 14, 20 and 21 of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) Act and Sections 10 and 12 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act.  “Report extortion via actu@nimc.gov.ng or call 08157691214 or 08157691071."   Share to Fac

Rapper Lil Tjay arrested for gun and weed possession

  American rapper, Lil Tjay has been arrested by officials of New York Police Department.   Lil Tjay who was in a vehicle with 4 others when cops pulled them over for switching lanes without signaling, was busted Wednesday afternoon in Brooklyn and booked for criminal possession of a weapon, marijuana possession and grand larceny.   TMZ reported that officer smelled weed in the car, which resulted in a search and the discovery of 4 loaded handguns and a large amount of marijuana.   Everyone in the car were booked for possession charges as neither the rapper nor anyone in the vehicle took ownership of the firearms or the weed. It is however unclear why they're also facing the grand larceny charge.

  Officials of the Kaduna State Urban State Urban Planning Development Agency (KASUPDA) have demolished the building that was to host the maiden edition of the Kaduna sex party.   The building located at Sabon Tasha a suburb of Kaduna metropolis was demolished this afternoon December 31.   On Tuesday, December 30, the Kaduna State Police Command arrested the organizers of an event tagged "Kaduna Sex Party". The event promoted on social media platforms was slated to hold last Sunday, December 27, 2020, at an undisclosed location in the state capital.  According to details on the invite, participants were expected to be completely nude at the party slated to start from 8:pm till daybreak. Some of the attractions included outdoor and indoor sex, public nude dares, games, food, movies.

It has been alleged that Hon Solomon Akongfe Aboh, the Cross River State media aide, has sexually molested and assaulted a woman in search of a job. Solomon Valentine, a public speaker and youth advocate told the story and shared photos of the woman with a bleeding face. He wrote:  "She was brought to Calabar by the  SA @AbohHon on the grounds that he will give her a job with cali air. "He now kept her and started making sexual advances at her when  she refused this is the result. This is not the first." Sharing a photo of the media aide's ID card, Solomon added:  "She has been sexually molested by her boss severely when she requested for money to enable her travel back to Lagos where her parents stay @AbohHon Hon.Aboh,Solomon attempted to kill her.   The unified WBA, IBF and WBO champion, Anthony Joshua has confirmed he is willing to vacate his WBO heavyweight title, if this helps secure a fight with WBC and Lineal Champion, Tyson Fury in 2021. Joshua defended his belts against IBF mandatory Kubrat Pulev on December 12, and now wants to face the current boxing golden goose Fury in an attempt to get all the belts. A potential hurdle in the way of Joshua fighting Fury is his WBO mandatory challenger– Oleksandr Usyk. Usyk was made the official challenger in June 2019 and has been waiting for his shot to fight Joshua for 18 months. The WBO previously allowed two exceptions for AJ to rematch Andy Ruiz Jr and then fight Pulev, but now insist their mandatory is now due and could take Joshua to court if he decides not to fight Usyk. Man Fighting For His Life In Hospital After A Mobile Phone Exploded In His Hand

File photo A 27-year-old man is now fighting for his life in hospital after his mobile phone exploded. The man was holding the phone when it exploded in a car park, Daily Star UK reports. Queensland Police were called to a car park in Lutwyche, Brisbane, Australia, on Monday December 28 following reports of an explosion at around 11am. The 27-year-old is understood to have been in his car allegedly under the influence of alcohol or drugs pulling apart mobile phones. One of the devices is reported to have exploded in his hand while he was in the process of destroying the communication device. He is said to have suffered serious burns as a result of the explosion and was taken to Brisbane Royal and Women’s Hospital. According to The Australian, the man went into cardiac arrest on route to the medical centre and is considered in a critical condition. ***

Suspected cultist assassinated by rival cult group in Ondo

  A suspected cultist has been killed by members of a rival cult group in Akungba Akoko commnuity, Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, in what seemed to be a reprisal attack. It was gathered that the suspected cultist identified as AY Chiller, who was known for his notoriety in the community, was rounded up by the gang and shot severally on Wedneday night, December 29.    According to a source, the deceased attempted to escape from the scene but was overpowered by the opponents who left him in his pool of blood after confirming that he was dead. Two young men killed, 2 ladies injured as gunmen open fire at beer parlour in Rivers community

  Two young men were shot dead by gunmen suspected to be cultists at Luubara community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.     An indigine of Luubara, Nwibani Barry, who confirmed the incident said the gunmen invaded the community at about 8pm on Tuesday, December 29, and proceeded to a beer parlour near the market square where they opened fire on the revellers.    Nwibani revealed that the victims, Timothy Baridapdo and Bariyaa, died on the spot while two ladies, who sustained gunshot injuries, were taken to the hospital by the Divisional Police Officer of Bori Division.   Sources in the community told Daily Trust that the gunmen were rival cult gangs who were on a reprisal mission.   Meanwhile friends have taken to Facebook to mourn the deceased. Commotion As Customs Men Kill Motorcyclist While Pursuing Smugglers In Ogun

Man arrested for allegedly transporting cartons of Indian Hemp into Kano (photo)

  The Kano  Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has arrested one Ekennah Okechuku for allegedly transporting more than 60 cartons containing Indian Hemp into Kano State.   In a statement issued by the spokesperson of KAROTA, Nabilusi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa, Okechukwu upon his arrest was discovered to be on the wanted list of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), for a similar offence.   While handing over the suspect to the Commander, NDLEA, Dr Ibrahim Abdul, the Managing Director, KAROTA, Baffa Babba Dan’agundi, said his agency recently ordered the relocation of Sabon Gari Luxury Buses Park due to a report of such crimes committed using such vehicles.   He said the order was beginning to yield the intended results as some of the luxury bus companies were cooperating with KAROTA to expose persons or groups transporting prohibited items into Kano State using their services.   He warned that any company whose driver or his boys were found to be conniving with unscrupulous individ
